18 October 2008 Robertson on route 62, a very special place to spend a weekend... On Sat morning we awoke to a warm sunny day and decided to take a little walk up to the top of one of the mountains near Robertson to have a flight. On the way out we talked and decided that the weather was good but that we were maybe a little late in the day as the temperature was now well into the late 20's and still climbing. |

So Cape Town was way wrong for flying this weekend, but we had a very good day of flying in Porterville on Saturday. Things didn't look good on the way there as it was blowing hard NW when we passed Malmesbury, but we kept our fingers crossed and Voila! when we reached Porterville, it was perfect. The day's flying started at 10am and it looks like Rene and John finally has their landing sorted out and Jono and Justin (the new guys) were squeezing in as many flights as possible and they said they were not scared in the least, not even the very fist time. Sorry guys, but we saw those quivering legs, so we are not sure if we believe you... Lorinda once again made the lime light with her no breaks, face in the dust landing tecnique, BUT we are very proud of you for flying this weekend, wounded as you are. Well done girl! Apart from a few other small exciting moments (like Maryna's scary take-off and Vera and Thomas's first tamdem flights with Pete), the day went down well and was rounded off with a nice drink and a meal at KoppiKoffi in Porterville. Next weekend planned is for 20th April (weather permitting) going to Wilderness, but check our events calendar for updates.
