Start Date: 9th December 2017
End Date: 17th December 2017
Duration: 9 days
Price: R13500.00

This is the minimum license requirement to fly on your own in South Africa. It is a comprehensive training course that covers ground handling, theory of flight, meteorology, supervised flights. It requires a minimum of 35 flights and is usually held over 9 days in Wilderness on the Garden Route.

Detailed Description

Great! You have made the decision to become a certified paraglider pilot.

This program is a thorough and intensive course designed to produce a safe, confident and competent basic pilot. During this program you will learn about take off and landing procedures, glider aerodynamics, meteorology, thermal flying, ridge soaring, flight manoeuvres and emergency procedures.

The course starts in Cape Town with ground training and theory (on certain Saturday mornings) followed by 9 days in Wilderness where the mild weather conditions and forgiving sand dunes provide gentle low take offs and soft landings for your first solo flights.

Here we focus on building your launching, landing and flight techniques through further intensive ground handling with specially designed pull up Gliders (made by Wallendair) and repetitious flights, before progressing to the higher take offs. The course length can be variable, the average student taking 9 days to complete the logged skill requirements and Basic License written exam

You will have the greatest success in paragliding if you can immerse yourself into the course, and then continue with regular flying, perfecting your ground handling and aerial skills, long after you have completed the course.

Paragliding is a never ending learning experience.

99% of the students finish the course in the 9 days however if you need additional training from your initial lessons to complete your Basic License, additional fees will be charged. You can join the next course at half price.

Or private lessons are available at R300/hour.

So give it all you got and get your license!

The Wilderness is a quaint, seaside resort known for its charm, superb beaches and warm blue water, where dolphins are often seen frolicking in the waves close to the take-off.
